If anyone here makes custom sub enclosures can you please let me know!

I am looking for one of these options for my 2 8" a/d/s

a) suspended box in rear deck

b) box fited in spare tire well (prefered method)

c) box fitted in each corner of the trunk.(closest to end)

I need my trunk space for a wheel chair so you can see my problem with space.
Maybe i'll have to settle for 1 8" sub.

Thanks, oh yea don't forget to quote me $ :p

FYI, my enclosure fits 2 x 10" JL Audio subs, it's 8 layers of fiberglass molded to the spare tire well. The MDF baffle fits flush with the trunk floor. The trim piece that finishes it off raises the whole thing another 1" to include grilles that protect the subs. I have spacers on either side to level the floor off and the stock carpet fits over the whole thing. It weighs 15 lbs more than the spare / jack combo which is not bad at all...

Here are various stages of the buildup, it's not upholstered yet... But it sounds pretty good for something that you can't see!

Dynamat inside the box

Mounting the baffle and filling in the gap

The assembly in the trunk, fits flush with the lowest points of the floor

Filling in screw holes + initial testing (note the polyfill in the box)

Weather stripping to prevent air leaks

Drivers mounted, surfaces smoothed out, awaiting upholstery

The $$ issue:
- Cheap subs 200$
- Leftover MDF at Home Depot 5$
- Fiberglass supplies 50$
- Countless hours... did everything myself

timfiredog I posted specs HERE

Silversvt I wonder if it would be posible to make a floor outta ply wood with an MDF box for the 2 subs attatched in the spare tire well?

No fiberglass needed, possible better sound as well as ease of construction.

Curious how they sound? Any rattles? More/less?

Do you notice your loosing usable floor space in the trunk or have you placed plexiglass over it?

Do you gain more bass by this mounting method...

I currently have a SQ setup and am looking at different ways to build a new enclosure....Currently I have the subs facing the front, which works for me. Although I feel I'm loosing some low end bass by doing this.

What are your thoughs?

Oh by the way Nice job on that! Very professional!

This is pretty similar to what I had. If you had your subs mounted facing the rear seat without modifying the rear seat, this method will probably gain you a dB or so. If you had the subs facing the rear, you might lose a dB. I found it to be the perfect location for my listening tastes.
