Check for exhaust leaks especially near the flanges. I had this problem once when one of the flange bolts broke where the cat-back part of the exhaust starts.
Also check for loose exhaust shields as stated above. Also see if the exhaust is rubbing against the exhaust tunnel anywhere under the car.
