I have run in to a little problem removing the dirver side axle from the trans (mtx-75). I have it out of the car now. I can see a small clip holding it in place,in the diff. I just can't get it to come off the axle.
Please help me.

If it is like my cd4e atx, there is a c clip on the end of the drive axle in the transmission, this is what is holding it in. I had to use a slide hammer with an attachment that fit around the drive axle to pull it out. I rented it from Auzo Zone for no charge. It is basically a drive axle puller with slide hammer.

Regards,
Bob

I am changing the shift forks, with Bill's kit.
While I am in there a Spec III clucth and a Spec flywheel. A Torsen Diff that is on back order.

I Have one move question, if you did not remove the tranny whould the clip fall in the bottom. So then the tranny needs to be pulled any way. Or is the clip held in place some how? not that I have to worry tranny is pulled out already.

The C Clip stays on the axle. It is recommended that when you pull the axles you replace the C clip. At least that is what I did.

You could drive it out with a long narrow punch from the other side.

Also since you are taking the tranny out anyway you could just cut the clip on the boot and pop the boot off. Clips are like $2.

I beat on ine for hours...and nothing...I broke ropes and chains and stuff...then I got ahold of a Ford mechanic. This is what he told us to do. I was putting constant pressure from a prybar (I was towards the rear of the car) then my father-in-law tapped it with a hammer...about 5 taps and it shot out. You may have to give it more than a tap. When you put pressure on it, it sets the c-clip then the hammer tapping shocks enough to get it to close. Hope that helps.

That's similar to what I did. I set a wooden 2x4 against the cv housing, and then walloped the 2x4 with a hammer. It popped right out.

I got it! I just needed a Bigger hammer. The pry bar on the outside helps too.

I picked up a set of axle nuts seem to be a ford only part $27 a pair I think this is bull.... That is just like ford. Small part that is going to fall a part if removed. Then make you pay big for it.
