The 3 1/2 year old will like a warm, freshwater lake with bait stealing panfish. You don't want to go too far with fussing kids in the car between naps and meals. How about a lake resort area in Iowa? While your fam is relaxing in a quaint little cottage by the lake and you open a cold brewski, Buckshot is near by up the road dropping in your 3L with the money you save by NOT going to Mexico, the Bahamas, Disneyland, Hawaii, Alaska.
Is Turkey Run in Indiana or Wisconsin Dells too exotic and distant for you? There are some neat places on the Upper Mississippi too, and you avoid Branson/Ozarks that way.
PS Sorry about your Rams. Will the MLB Cardinals make it up to you next summer and fall?
OOPS! That's right! I forgot a family trip to Wrigley, Fenway and Cooperstown... or that's when the kids are older?

I'm from AL and I can tell you a few things for LA (Lower AL). Beaches you have Dauphin Island which is ok. Has a civil war fort there and a few other things. The other beach (and DEFINATELY the better) is Gulf Shores right on the AL/FL border. Beautiful beaches and and the fine southern girls you could want, most of them still in there teens. It's cold there now so you may want to wait until April or later to go there. There are a few tourist things to do in Alabama but if you stay in that particular area then you have New Orleans right by you and you also have the entire Florida pan handle. Click on this so you can see a live camara looking at the beach. You can control the camara too. This is a link to the site for the city itself. Hope I've helped ya. BTW: IT'S A COKE!

I defintely reccomend the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg vacation (and that's not just because I live here/there;-)). seriously, Dollywood is a wholesome family themepark that's not tooooo huge but still with plenty to do and see. Of course it's off season right now, but come March 30th, I'll be at Dollywood at least two times a week. Dolly's Splash country is a modest but fun waterpark. Then in Gatlinburg there are allllllll the shops and Ripley's Aquarium (EXCELLENT), you could make a ride the skylift to Ober Gatlinburg. The possiblities are endless. Another plus, it doesn't have to be too expensive if you don't want it to be. I have pictures of everything mentioned above, and PM me if you want more information.

Hey PDXSVT,
I like the part about my oldest doing some panfishing. He loves to go fishing. As far as Buchshot doing a 3L conversion, I have my own ideas rolling thru my head. I am doing my research as we speak...cough...turbo...cough.
I do the Branson thing every year, looking for something else. Wisconsin dells don't sound too bad, especially if you like the whole indoor waterpark thing. Are there any places in Iowa to go to?
We will probably go sometime around May-Aug.
As far as the Rams go... CHOKE. The way they played earlier in the game, they really didn't deserve to win. The Cardinals, we will see what happens when they are done with freeagent signing. I am really looking forward to the new stadium. From the early drawings it really looks sweet.
Keep the ideas comming people.
Thanks again, Dan

well no
you have to be atleast 25 and make 50K a year
but you have to take a 90 min. tour of a new resort to get the gift package so if you don't live here that'd make it kinda difficult to do.

Maine is called Vacationland (at least on the license plates). My wife and I like Atlantic Canada (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island). Someday we may get to Newfoundland.

Duluth is a great place to visit. (Preferrably during the summer.) Click here to find out. You can also travel up the North Shore of Lake Superior. It will be a experience you will never forget. Duluth makes its living off of tourism and the shipping industry. I am biased, but its definately the best place to live, and we have the best summers around.
