as far as i know the 5.0 in a mustang is the same...the mustang lx from back in the day was basically a lighter gt...didn't have all the gt body cladding of the era but had the same engine and suspension...looked better too imo...
there are degrees of fast with them though as the power was continually increased pretty much as mustang battled the camaro/bird for top spot
for 89 im finding that the power was 'okay' at least but the torque is still pretty good (~300 lbs/ft) even today
