The issue is that Coke is a brand name, so they must interpret it as such. Some people prefer Pepsi over Coke, others Coke over Pepsi (and some hate one or the other and adamently refuse to have it) .. that's why they have to ask. If you ask for a 'cola' and they question if Pepsi is okay, then they're nuts.

As for me .. it's soda. Pop sounds like a drug, Coke is a brand name, and fountain drink has way too many syllables, haha.

Now, about 'bubbler' or 'water fountain', it's been bubbler and always will be no matter where I might live!
