Being a transplant to the US I've only heard it called pop here in MI. I heard it called soda in the southern states, but calling everything "coke" is stupid IMHO. If someone asked me if I wanted a coke, that's what I would expect if I said "yes". If they asked me what kind I would say "coke classic, thanks"

In Australia, all soda/pop is classified as "soft-drink", so they ask kids over there if they want a "soft-drink" or the specific drink itself, i.e. Do you want a Coke/Pepsi/Fanta/Sprite etc, and if you say yes, then that's what you'll get.
