Up in Minnesota its a Pop! I've heard soda espically from my Il buddies. Never have I heard COKE! That has to be the hickest thing I have ever heard! Coke is a BRAND! Cola is the product, thats why it is Pepsi COLA, Coca COLA! I can understand soda, and once in a while use it, it used to bother me but not anymore. Man does Coke bother me though, "Drr, Drr can I have a Coke 7-up?" that just sounds bad. Its like can I get a Bud-Miller light?

Where I grew up, Charleston,S.C.,we call it coke. Coke is not brand specific.

when I'm ordering at a fast food joint that has the serve yourself soda machines, I usually say "I'll have a medium fountain drink". did that while at SZ at some pizza place and the girl was like "sooo you guys want 5 'pahps' then?" heh pop

I only care for cola & thats how I order it...gets old when you ask for a "coke" (general term) & they ask "is pepsi OK?" Just give me a freakin cola, thank you very much... Although I try to avoid places that don't serve beer so this doesn't occur too often (except maybe lunch)

Being a transplant to the US I've only heard it called pop here in MI. I heard it called soda in the southern states, but calling everything "coke" is stupid IMHO. If someone asked me if I wanted a coke, that's what I would expect if I said "yes". If they asked me what kind I would say "coke classic, thanks" In Australia, all soda/pop is classified as "soft-drink", so they ask kids over there if they want a "soft-drink" or the specific drink itself, i.e. Do you want a Coke/Pepsi/Fanta/Sprite etc, and if you say yes, then that's what you'll get.

"Wrench." Yeah, I kind of thought people would assume that.
