Yeap, I was about to do that beleiving Dexcool was the upgrade to the Green stuff, but other CEGers flamed at me, so I didn't do it.

Wondering if someone else did it with no problems.

I changed over to Dexcool at about 30,000 miles. It was when the car was one year old. I change coolant once a year, during the aniversary month. I did a very thorough flush before putting in the Dexcool. I was already sold on the stuff from using it on prior cars. Dexcool is factory fill on 99 and newer Cougars, and they use the same parts so i don't believe you will have any compatibility problems as long as you flush thoroughly.

It is conventional wisdom that you should stay with whatever coolant the car came from the factory with. If you change it frequently, it probably doesn't matter.

My 03 Escape came with Ford's new hybrid long life coolant. It is supposed to be good for 5 years or 100,000 miles on the original fill but the replacement should be changed at 50,000 miles. I will not bother to convert to Dexcool on the Escape, but i will continue my habit of changing the coolant once a year.

By the way, my Contour SVT still has the original thermostat at 190,000 miles.
