completely cut the plastick hatch out.
cut your metal mesh larger than the opening in the bumper.
lay it over the plastic insert before you cut the hatch out.
cut slots in the metal mesh where the plastic tabs on teh bumper would go through the plastic insert.
you can then slide the mesh onto the bumper and then slide the plastic insert(minus hatch) on behind the metal mesh, secure with factory clips
