yes, it is very flimsy once you cut out the crosshatch, but that just makes it easier to reinstall.
once it is back on the bumper and teh factory clips are put back on, it keeps its shape fine, and cant be seen from the outside
I bought elky mesh, and I installed it the same way. It holds up good and it does hold the shape once it is clamped in properly.
