Just wondering if anyone in NY has tried this and what the result is?

NY, IIRC, is going to hook a computer device to your tailpipe and see what is coming out. They also hook an OBD-II scanner up to your ECU, and check for codes. Any codes pop up, you lose the inspection sticker on the spot. As far as O2 simulators, I'm not sure, but if they aren't throwing codes or causing bad emessions, it shouldn't be a problem. Go to a garage/mechanic that knows you. Oh, and they are charging 2 times the original price, so about $35 a year for an inspection now... worse than registration.
