I currently have a 95 gl.V6 5spd. I was told today that my #2 cyl. is reading low pressure..but there is a god awful rattling. They feel it has something to do with the cam walking. I was also told that with the price of fixing it..re-adjusting the chain it would run as must as a even up engine swap , about $1500 or so. Can I look into an SVT motor? What needs to change in order to do the swap? is it just the motor and computer..or is there more to it?

sorry svt swap wont work for you unless you plan on rewiring the whole car with the new harness!
The newer cars are obd2 you have obd1. In order for you to use a svt motor, you will need the pcm for it to run right as well. In order to make the pcm work you need to change the wiring harness and thats too much trouble and not worth it. The only 2 options have have right now is either 3L or another 2.5L. I went through the same thing you are going through right now with my car a couple months back. A stock 3L is a huge project withendless headaches and was gonan run me around 2000$ or so. I jsut didn't have the all time in the world so i went with a stock 2.5L with i found from a 2002 cougar for 500$ with 20k on it and i replaced a bunch of other stuff while under there. The choice is urs now what you would like to do but a svt motor won't work for you in this case.

if you were to find a new cougar motor to put in ur car al lyou have to do is swap over ur intakes. Upper and low with injectors and it will work. Same engine. YOu will remain obd1 and use ur old harness becasue thats what ur car came with.

TY TY..Mark at FORD SVT told me to look up BNOON or BUCKSHOT77.. They set up 3L motors and might have a different option for me.
