I think I'm going to drive that '96 around for a couple more years, then I'll replace it with an '06 Futura (my sister works at a Ford dealer so I can get the D-plan on it, which should save a few thousand).
I won't trade the '96 in, that's a good way to get screwed by the dealer, especially when buying a car under D-plan. Plus my mom wants it to replace her '97 Escort. Nothing wrong with the '97 Escort, the Contour is just a nicer car, even if it's a year older.
Did you have specific problems crop up before getting the wiring recall done, or did they do it just because it was "under recall"? I've got a '95 that's probably less than six months away from breaking the 100K mark and I'm pretty sure it's not been done, but I haven't seen any insulation problems.
