Amen. My Maxipad with an open differential is pushing quite a bit more torque than most 2.5 liter CSVTs and I never have problems with "peg-leg" launching. I always spin both tires in a equal line assuming I'm going in a relatively straight line and the surface is uniform.
Limited slip differentials will not make you much quicker off the line. LSDs are more for powering out of tight turns. If you want good straightline acceleration, get drag tires. There are quite a few Maximas with open differentials getting 1.8-2.0 60 foots with slicks and drag radials.
