i agree with your thoughts completely. i have a ported enclosure that was designed right and built better. it sounds very good, and ive done quite a few set ups. even had macdaddy's for myself. im not mecp but ive been around quite a few people who are. personally i use the ported box because i like the gain and control i gain over the center frequency. thats just me.
