I already have a Sony Xplod head unit. I am planning to add a Sony Xplod 1000W amp. Then I'm planning to hook up a 12" Infinity Kappa Perfect to it in a sealed bandpass box. If anything is wrong with this design please let me know before I start buying stuff. Thanks.

Well, for starters, stay away from Sony Xplod....

If you want good sound quality, get a better source and better amps...and better speakers...and better sound deadening...and... well, the list goes on, and on, and on... laugh

If you're going to be running subs with an amp its better to get a head unit with subwoofer RCA output. I have an xplod deck and blew out all my speakers because i was trying to push them like subs. But you want to try to get a HU with a sub output. Sony Xplods are junk.

Prefab bandpass box, or are you building it yourself? I second the Sony Xplod thought...

I've got no problems with the sound of any sony xpolod head unit I have heard (not a fan of the looks, though) so don't go selling it just yet.

I'd go with a sealed box and forget the bandpass. If SPL is what your after go ported.

Keep the HU, get a different amp and sub, though.

The HU is fine, altough it wouldn't be my choice.

Perfects are nice subs, but you can get more for your money with some of the "no-name subs" like Shivas or Blueprints. Try a search, there's about a bazillion posts about subs.

I'd definately ditch the Xplod amp. Here's a good deal on a very nice class D mono sub amp that would be great for driving a single 4ohm DVC sub. US Acoustics USX-800D

Any Sony ES is good, but I think there are cheaper alternatives.
