ok i have a new battery and a new alternator and the charging light went off and the system is still not charging. went thru all datas troubleshooting tests and everything was ok. checkd grounds/fuses...everything is good. my replacement alternator was from autozone, does it not being motorcraft make a difference? What else could b wrong? i really want to drive my car again...

TIA

Could be a defective alternator or battery.

Did you have the battery load tested to make they put a good one in, use the second number on it forgot the name the one to the right of the first one ( it is a sticker), and divide that in half. Then load it with that much, if the battery drops below 9.6amps during the load it is junk already.

With the alternator Autozone does that to, it is helpful if your car has a tach, as you need to idle at 2000 rpm.

There's a 175 amp mega fuse on the alternator output wire, did you check that one? It's not in the underhood fuse box.

What voltage do you get at the battery terminals with the engine revved up to 2000RPM?

Make sure that the ALT bulb in the dash did not burn out.

If it does not come on before cranking, the alternator will not "wake up".

You have what voltage at the battery?? and what output from the alternator? Is your engine ground cable connected? Maybe the alternator has no chassis ground?

i looked at the grounds coming from the fuse box and theyre all good. two to the fender and two to the block, is that all of them? im getting 13volts at the battery/alternator and when running its dropping about a volt and no charging whatsoever.
