Well, the fact is in the article the guy said that the salesman only got a reckless driving ticket. Also the salesman was only doing what the dealership tells him to do.
I used to sell Nissans, and when I first started the first thing they tell you about test drives is that you floor the s.o.b. as soon as you get off the lot. Reasoning is that most customers will not really get on it due to the fact they think they shouldn't. I lit up the tires on a 350z leaving once and thought I was gonna be in for it when I got back. Not so, sales manager came to me after I got the sale and told me that was how to do it.

On a side note my dad is a sales manager at a Porsche/Audi dealership and one day while coming back to the dealership with the customer driving the customer flipped a brand new Porsche 911 Targa. Customer thought he was Mario Andretti and took an offramp at about 100 hit the brakes started to spin it when it hit a curb and flipped and tottaled a 85K car. My dad was in the hospital for 2 weeks. Customer also only got a reckless driving ticket.
