Not sure, but I think some magazines have a correction factor that they multiply the tested time and trap speed by. By doing this they arrive at a standardized time and speed, which is what they publish. This is to account for elevation (barometric pressure), temperature, and humidity. Similar to what they do sometimes when they dyno test a car.

Very few owners run their cars under these ideal conditions...and of course, the magazine drivers do this kind of thing for a living, they've got some practice.
