The high pressure gas charge is independent of the valving. Who said anything about valves, anyway?
It is widely known that Bilsteins, especially, when hand compressed off the vehicle, will push the shaft back out to full extension. Low-pressure dampers will just leave the shaft wherever you put it. I don't know of any damper that "pulls it in."

I was working on Koni's Saturday and they slowly pulled this shaft in!

The problem with America is stupidity.
I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment
for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety
labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

I have witnessed this to some degree. I have a 96 SE with 100K miles. I just replaced my original suspension last weekend with Bilstein struts and H&R springs. The drop in the front was 1" at the most, and the rear seems to have risen about 0.5-1". The wheel gap is about equal now; it does not have the raked look other people seem to have with H&R's and I wonder if it has to do with the struts I chose. I was supposed to get a 1.75"F/1.25"R drop. Definitely did not see that. The new ride-height is starting to grow on me now, though.

I think Neil posted on FastCougar that his set up finally settled and he's happy now..
I just ordered Ground Controls for 389 shipped tonight.. I've been thinking of the Bilsteins since I saw a few people posting about how bouncy the KYB2's are..
I see that Bat only recommends the Bilsteins with the BAT spring combo.. anyone here think that my thoughts of using em with the GC's would be bad? I don't want to pay the price for Koni's if these struts are as amazing as all that I have read thus far.
thanks

I got a set of Bilsteins and Eibachs in my garage waiting for warm weather. The whole reason for getting them was to lower the car and improve handling. Now I'm getting nervous about the whole height thing. Guess I'll have to wait and see--just might have a set of slightly used struts for sale in a couple of months.
