I would definitely say that it is worthwhile to dynamat. It really can make a big difference.

I would mount the amp in the trunk personally. I'm not sure it'll fit under the seat.

Oh yeah, tools are not a problem laugh!

I guess I need to go ahead and order some of the Dynamat equivalent from mcmaster?
Acoustical Damping Sheets
Here's a solution for noise problems caused by vibration. The pressure sensitive adhesive backing can be wrapped around surfaces such as duct and piping.
Mastic and hi-temp mastic sheets are asphalt-based; all others are made of super-flexible, thermoplastic PVC. All sheets meet flammability requirements MVSS-302. Alum-bond and ultrachem sheets also meet UL94V-O. Ultrachem sheets are USDA approved for incidental food contact. fused

Each section is 32x54 or ~12 sq.ft.; how many do I need to do the four doors and the rear deck lid? 2, 3? Man each sheet weighs 7 pounds!!!

What kind of fastener should be used to attach the amp to the rear seat back?

I would get at least 3. 1 for each pair of doors and one for the rear shelf. That will give you a good foundation to start with. You may want to cover the area under the rear seat as well.

Not sure, never done it. Others have suspended them from the rear deck, but i'm not sure if you want to put more weight up there...it would probably be ok, but i'm not sure.

Didn't get in on the Crystal 5x7's from carmedia.com; they are sold out until February. (They did have 6x9's however.) Is there another source or should I go with the previously mentioned MB Quarts? What about a Crystal 6x9 in the front?

I think the Quarts would be fine substitutions.

I have 2 amps mounted vertically along the back of the rear seats. Attached to the metal bracing where the seats are attached to.

The JL Audio's are very fine speakers.

I ended putting Kicker i57's into my front doors. They have outboard xovers and the tweeters can be free/flushmounted if you like or they can remain on the bridge over the woofer/midrange. The rotate and tilt so you can aim them up toward the listener. They develop clean extended bass for a door speaker and are much better in this regard than the infinity 5x7 kappas I had in there before. Can be had for about $175 on the net.

Thanks for the advice on the JL's, I plan on ordering them this week.

I ended up going with the MB Quart 2-way DKD 5x7's. Their range is a bit lower than the Crystal's, 60Hz versus 80Hz, so that should provide a bit more umph in the cabin. Of course I would have bought the Crystal's had they been in stock frown . Separates would have blown the budget, especially at $175 a set. Four MB's were $150 to my door.

The sound dampening material came in Friday and that $hit is heavy! But I'll sacrifice a tenth on the course for some better acoustics. Hopefully the door speakers will be in on Monday and I'll have them in by the end of the week.

The MB Quarts are in but yet to be installed, hopefully it'll warm up a bit and we won't get another 4" of snow eek !

I've debated back and forth on the sub and basically I think the dual 8" setup will simply sacrifice too much trunk space. Holiday travelling seem to confirm this.

Therefore, is the single ScanSpeak 21W/5555A
still the optimum option? I guess on the one hand it sucks to spend $160 for one speaker when it would buy two, but I am getting a quality piece it seems. I also plan on getting the US Acoustics 6300 50x6 if it is still the bargain amp.

Thanks again for all the input you guys, hopefull this SVT will be rockin' soon.
