I ended putting Kicker i57's into my front doors. They have outboard xovers and the tweeters can be free/flushmounted if you like or they can remain on the bridge over the woofer/midrange. The rotate and tilt so you can aim them up toward the listener. They develop clean extended bass for a door speaker and are much better in this regard than the infinity 5x7 kappas I had in there before. Can be had for about $175 on the net.

Thanks for the advice on the JL's, I plan on ordering them this week.

I ended up going with the MB Quart 2-way DKD 5x7's. Their range is a bit lower than the Crystal's, 60Hz versus 80Hz, so that should provide a bit more umph in the cabin. Of course I would have bought the Crystal's had they been in stock frown . Separates would have blown the budget, especially at $175 a set. Four MB's were $150 to my door.

The sound dampening material came in Friday and that $hit is heavy! But I'll sacrifice a tenth on the course for some better acoustics. Hopefully the door speakers will be in on Monday and I'll have them in by the end of the week.
