It just means that the amp could handle a 1 ohm load if you presented the amp with that impedance. With the scan speak it would provide about 150 watts.
What did you think of the drawing I made above? You could get two of the Thrusters for ~100.00 and mount them like the above and have the ability to move more air than the scanspeak for less money. It wouldn't weigh too much and it would be relatively out of site.
