The sound is very good. Certainly not boomy. What I really like from it music with a simple bass track. The kind of music that plays just a few low frequency notes at a time seem to sound the best. I'll have to run through my CD's in the changer to give you some specific examples. More complicated music I think is a little lacking at higher volumes. This may also be due to my cheap Legacy amp that also drives the door speakers. Again, I'll have a listen tonight if I can. As far as rattles, yes, I have some, but only at moderate-high levels. The problem is the rear package shelf which can be fixed with some thick foam or padding. I had planed to use household carpet padding, 1/2" thick. Just never got around to it since there isn't a problem at lower levels. Now that I'm probably selling the car, I'll probably end up returning the stereo to stock.

Dave has heard my system a couple times. It surprised him (it would me too before I tried it) which is why I think he recommends it to certain people.
