APT how would you characterize the sound from the Dayton? What does it play that you really enjoy? What are the limitations musically speaking?

Matt,
The sound is very good. Certainly not boomy. What I really like from it music with a simple bass track. The kind of music that plays just a few low frequency notes at a time seem to sound the best. I'll have to run through my CD's in the changer to give you some specific examples. More complicated music I think is a little lacking at higher volumes. This may also be due to my cheap Legacy amp that also drives the door speakers. Again, I'll have a listen tonight if I can. As far as rattles, yes, I have some, but only at moderate-high levels. The problem is the rear package shelf which can be fixed with some thick foam or padding. I had planed to use household carpet padding, 1/2" thick. Just never got around to it since there isn't a problem at lower levels. Now that I'm probably selling the car, I'll probably end up returning the stereo to stock.
Dave has heard my system a couple times. It surprised him (it would me too before I tried it) which is why I think he recommends it to certain people.

I would describe Aarons system the same way he did. I would think that the only weakness may be with complex bass tracks. Part of that has to do with the fact that it is an 8" speaker and has natural limitations. When played within it's limits, it's very nice for the money. How about getting two of them and suspend them from the deck in a configuration like this...It the bottom 6.5-7" would be visible with the trunk open, but it gives you more excursion, more power, and it may clear up the tracks with complicated bass. The same amp would still work very well, and will give each sub 75 watts.

So I could drive the four 5x7's and the one sub? It says that sub channel 5 and 6 are 1 ohm stable, could you elaborate on this? Does it run at 1 ohm or is consistent to 1 ohm??? The Scanspeak runs at 4 ohms, how does all this play out? Grrr, more confusion!!!

With the scan speak it would provide about 150 watts. What did you think of the drawing I made above? You could get two of the Thrusters for ~100.00 and mount them like the above and have the ability to move more air than the scanspeak for less money. It wouldn't weigh too much and it would be relatively out of site.

Then the speakers would be mounted to the other sides of the triangle which are somehow mated to the top piece? How far apart are the speakers?
