FWIW, IIRC the biggest difference between Excelon/non-Excelon Kenwoods is the warranty and number of preamp outputs. I ended up with a KDC-MVP622 after doing some comparisons and finding that the tuner, power, etc. was the same as the lower-end Excelons.
