DOn't throw out any brand entirely. You'll hear "Panasonic sucks" and all that crap, but really, you have a warranty. If it breaks, get your money back for it and buy something else. If it doesn't break in the first 3 months, it probably won't break.

Myself, I've used Alpine HUs exclusively for the last 6 years. I recommend them, but really they are not the only HU I would recommend and since you specified Sirius, then Alpine is out. Kenwood makes very good units, and finally they dropped the retarded rocker switches that prevented me from buying thier head units. I am not a fan of Panasonic simply because thier HUs are way too flashy, and they aren't set up to my liking. Clarion makes very high quality eqipment as well, and they are very easy to use. Of the 3 I'd probably choose the Clarion.

My advice to you, which is the same advice I always give, would be to look at all the sirius equipped HUs and decide which one you think you can live with best. Ergonmics I find are much more important than people think. The fact is, in a given price range, most of the head units you look at will sound nearly identical, it's the features and setup that make them different.
