If you broke a valve, that head and piston are already destroyed.
I would not start the engine at all!
Look down the plug hole for debris. If the piston is all the way up rotate the crank manually to get it down. If it does not go down you have broken a rod or wrist pin.
If you don't see any damage check for valve leakage at #5 TDC, or if you can't do that, dry compression test that cylinder (no fuel).
