i have just recently purchased the 9006 headlamps for my car, only to discover that they do not fit, i think i may have read a while ago how to modify them to make the lights fit, however the search function does not appear to be working at this time, any suggestions on how to modify them to make them fit?
thank you

The 9006s are designed for the hight beams correct? But you want them for your lows? If they are they have a tab on inner side of the connecter that you need to cut out with a knife or something like a dremel, which would take less time. Anyhow, be glad you got the 9006s. Most people here buy those, mod them like I said and install them in the lows housing. You just gained a little more wattage.

Personally I found it a lot easier to cut away the plastic on the connecting end on the car. Much softer and easier to get to. But it's probably better to cut away plastic on something that's disposable like a bulb, not on the car itself.

Hmm, maybe it's different from pre98 and post98 because my manual for my 2000 Stique says to use 9006 for the low beam and when I did get the Silverstar 9006's, they snapped right in perfectly.

Has anyone ever had a problem with the clear headlight cover getting cloudy? Can you replace them or do you have to replace the entire headlight assembly?

Just put in the SilverStars in my '00 CSVT. I used 9005s. The way mine was set up was; 9006 for the lows, and 9005s for the highbeams. I took a Dremel to the plastic tabs on the bulbs. They clipped right in, and are working great. They make a HUGE difference despite what anyone tells you. Maybe check to be sure you are replacing the lowbeams not the highs... G/L

I guess I had it wrong, 9005s must be designed for the highs but can be modded to fit the lows. Sorry for the mess up.

Try Meguiar's PlastX Clear Plastic Cleaner & Polish. My brother used it on his headlights and it worked great.
