The Idle Air Control can stick almost closed and starve the engine for air. It is mounted below the intake manifold.

The engine can idle low and rough for other reasons.
  • Stretched timing belt
  • Poor plug and plug wire condition
  • Low fuel pressure
  • Dirty injectors
  • Vacuum or intake plenum air leaks
  • EGR leakage


Take your pick.

Check for trouble codes first, even if you have not noticed the CEL come on. As we say - Autozone will check them free. Just remember to write the the exact number down, if any.
