Hah! I'll be there with the Contour!
Evidently through the week the mechanic took a look at it. He decoded the CEL, which told him cylinders 2, 4, and 6 were misfiring.

At any rate, halfway through his diagnosis it began working perfectly fine. He test drove it several times over the next few days and couldn't get the problem to reappear (even though it's been much colder now than even last week!). He hands it back to us, charging us nothing as he never had to fix a problem, even though he spent several hours diagnosing it. I highly recommend this guy to anybody who has an issue they can't determine. Ryan, the shop (McLaughlin auto / gas station) is right across the Blackstone from your apartment.
So all in all, Contour decided to run fine once again, and pending that I get 6+ hours worth of homework done by tomorrow at 1, I'll be able to go.
