I bought my 99 SVT new. It was a great car for the most part and Im sad to see it go. But the final straw was the fact that the paint job, which I washed and waxed regularly, was starting to crack all over. Ford was no help, they offered to repaint it, but I would have to pay 68% of the cost, as I had 68k miles and it was only "supposed to last until 100k". The total tab would have been 3500, with 2300 the price I had to pay, and It had to be at a ford dealer. No thanks. I needed a bigger car with baby #2 on the way, anyways.
I bought an 02 Saab 9-5 aero, and I absoletely love it.
My old car is at Central Saab in Norwood, if any one wants one. I'd make them repaint it.... :-)
Also I have a set of snow tires and wheels in the classifieds if anybody is interested.

Nice ride! Go Saab!
And check us out at Saab Central for information on your new car!
http://www.saabcentral.com
Saab Scene ( http://www.saabscene.com )is OK too, but I like the folks at Saab Central a lot more. They are as helpful as people here for car tips and information.
P.S. - Also, although I love driving Sally, it figures that after I go through the trouble of buying a winter beater, someone has a set of snows on wheels for an incredible price. I have the worst luck in the world.

Hi there - would you be willing to share how much you got on the trade in & the specific condition of your car? Include if it was mod'd at all too if you can. I gather it had 68k on the clock...what color was it?
I ask these Q's b/c I am considering moving along to something new myself & your input would help. You can always PM this info if you'd like as well...thanks & good luck with the Saab!

Hey Guys, I bought a 02 Aero 5 speed. I love this thing. The nice thing is that I can drive it for hours and not feel tired or sore. It also has great power from about 2k up as compared to 4500 and up on the svt. Im very happy with the choice. Part of me really wanted an STI but I couldnt swing the extra cash, not to mention they are pretty low line inside.
I beat them up on the price, I got them down about 4k, plus got them to certify the car (6yr 100k miles warranty). Then I thru in the trade. I had looked up my SVT on edmunds a few weeks prior and say about 7500 wholsale. Well, in thet time it had dropped to about 6500 whole sale. Then they offered me only 4300 trade, as it was their price they would pay for auction. But in the end I ended up getting about 8k on the trade as well as 3.9% financing. Im guessing it was worth 9k max in the open market.
My car was perfect except for the cracking paint, which you only really see when it's wet. I took off the snows and put back on the summer wheels (stock E1) before trade. I also removed the 98 clock and 2000 cupholder (there on ebay), and aftermarket radio. I did leave in the K&N drop in, and oh yea the moosing fix too... :-)
It was on Central's lot as of last week, I wonder how much they are asking? I had an ESP to 100k, but they said it wasnt transferrable. It was black/tan #1344. I will miss it.
Lou
I like saabnet.com but hate the threaded forums! Ill have to check saab central, last I looked not much noise in the 9-5 section.
