I finally replaced my old POS sony reciever with a harman kardon avr 130. WOW!!!! what a difference. My old sony didn't even have a center channel output so I picked up a M&K lcr-55 to use with this unit. My fronts are klipsch kg 3.5's and they finally sound the way they should. I just need some new rears now. I'm thinking about getting the klipsch quintets. My friend used them in his system and they do the job quite well. If anyone out there is looking for a new HTR, I highly recommend this unit. It has dolby digital, DTS, dolby pro logic 2 and logic 7. Output is 55 watts to all 5 channels. It was a toss up between this unit and an onkyo but I'm really glad I chose the HK. My center channel is getting delivered next week and I have pretty high expectations for it. I'll post results of the center after it's hooked up.

HK always puts out units that look beautiful and sound just as pretty. Nice purchase. It seems like you are enjoying your new toy.

Don't let the 55 watts fool you. My sony had 100 watts to both front channels and the HK hands down destroys that unit in every category. Another reason I wasn't too concerned with the power output is because I live in a condo and I really can't use my system to it's full potential anyway, "the reason I sold my velodyne sub". I will say this though, I turned the volume to just pass half way for just a few seconds and I almost wet myself. Just kept getting louder with absolutely amazing clarity and I still had plenty of volume to go so to be quite honest, power really isn't an issue. BTW, nice reciever

Not enough juice??? What is that HK reciever putting out? By now, I think we all should know that the most important spec of a reciever is not the maximum output wattage. There are more important things like a full-bandwidth amp, stages and the all important bode plots (which you will hardly ever see included in the reciever's user manual) I am sure that HK reciever is just fine. Well, since everyone else is showing off their stuff, here is mine... Very nice!! Can't go wrong with yamaha. I designed a HT system for my friend last year and we decided on a yamaha reciever "htr 5440 I think" and I was very impressed with it.

H/K is one of the only major brands that puts out its rated power. Model for model, despite it's lower power ratings, H/K has the most bench tested watts and now their reliability is getting better, as well.

H/K is a very good brand but they are not the only manufacturers out there with full-bandwidth amplifiers. Many of the higher end brands have this feature but obviously you are going to pay for it. When I was shopping for recievers, the Yamaha's and some of the Kenwoods had full-bandwidth amps. The list goes on. One other feature that my Yamaha reciever has that I didn't see any other brands with was the amp inputs for every channel. In other words, I have the capabilities of adding additional amplification to all channels (which includes the surround sound speakers).

Neither Yamaha, nor Denon and Marantz for that matter, made rated power all 5 channels driven in the test I saw... IIRC, only NAD and H/K did.
