Should my exhaust sound like a Honda? My friend and girlfriend both told me this today. Not raspy, just kind of like a Honda with an exhaust they said. I haven't heard it yet, but I plan on having my girlfriend drive it so I can hear it for myself. What would a high flow resonator do for this? Would it tone it down or...? I know it's not going to sound like a V8 and all, but I'm a little sad now. It sounded ok from inside the car so far....Any advice? I'm not worried about the rasp because it is not a problem, just maybe a way to bring out the loppy sound instead of a straight vroom, hopefully someone knows what that means....

hmmm....ok. So to keep it cheap, I have heard glasspacks sound great. Or is the magnaflow res really that much better? Or what should I go with?

Exactly!

No resonator equals ricey rasp and annoying drone.

Some people live with it and some even like it, but there is NO QUESTION it sounds like absolute ricer crap!

I recommend a bullet style resonator if you have cats and a standard style if you do not.
Straight through design and perforated (NOT louvered) core.

Actually, I listened to it and it doesn't sound too bad at all. My girlfriend's dad took the pleasure of beating my car up and down the street and it sounds nothing like a Honda. I like it just fine. I could do without the short burst of rasp around 4000 rpm, but no biggie. I'll get a resonator sooner or later, but right now it's not on the top of the list of priorities. Thanx for the info, always appreciated. and the strong opinions as usual....

I have stock exhaust except for a magnaflow resonator from Stazi, $75 shipped. Below 3000rpm it is a nice deep tone, which I could not hear at all with the stock res. The car has a nice rumble to take off and just an all around great exhaust note to it. Put it this way, most ricers wish their car sounded as nice.

I have a custom y-pipe, stock resonator and a custom rear. 2 R'active mufflers with 2.5" piping, and it's very deep not raspy at all.

Hmmmm.....ricers seem to like loud and consistant rasp. Do you really think they'd like a nice smooth sound like your setup!?

An SVT sound like a Honda...yeah, right. Definitely not a Civic or anything of that nature. I don't know what their smokin' but it sounds like some of that "jealousy weed". There aren't many, if any, V 6's that sound as good as an SVT.

I don't have a resinator and people round here will tell you there is no rasp. I have a Remus muffler on it and thats all, no cats or res and it sounds good. Just depends on the setup. Also just 2.5" strieght pipe going back.
