I'm looking to change me subs, right now I have 2 PG XMAX subs in a band pass box with a PG ZX 475ti running them, I love the way they sound, but its time for a change.

I'm looking at either 2 Shiva 12's or 2 Lambda 12's. Either way I would prefer not buying a new amp.

My question is which will work better with my amp and for SQ. I plan on using a seeled box.

Other equipment for reference:
JVC LX50
PG XS 6.5" components (changing to Crystal 6.5" components, maybe)
PG XS 5x7 in rear doors
PG Bass CUBE
Stinger 1 farad cap.

Lambdas would probably be the better option. They are slightly more effecient than the Shivas and the SQ is better. But, they are substantially more money. If money is any concern, then the Adires are the better option.

Get a 15" ***** from Lambda. It wasn't really that much for what I got and it is an impressive subwoofer. It was $378(CDN) here including air freight. That's not unreasonable IMO. I have yet to hear something on it that doesn't sound good.

I've decided on the Shiva. If I'm reading everything right it is an 8 ohm sub, how do I drop the ohm load so I can run each sub off a different channel (front and rear)? It is prabably a simple answer that once I saw the subs it would come to me, but I want to make sure I'm gonna get enough power to each sub.

The Shiva is a DVC (Dual Voice Coil) driver and each coil is 8 ohms. So, wiring the two coils in parallel yields a single 4-ohm load for each driver.

Bridge the sub to 2 channel mode which should provide 300w to each channel at 4 ohms (If I am interpreting the model number correctly) and run one channel per sub. Then wire as APT described. Should be nearly perfect.

BTW, you may want to opt for the Dayton DVC over the Shiva for three reasons.

1. essentially the same speakers
2. it's on sale for 99.00
3. it's at www.partsexpress.com which is closer and shipping should be lower.
