Well... I was guessin'. The Japanese car makers used to have a reputation for making "modular" units. You replace the entire thing rather than just the specific part that's broken. I recon lots of manufacturers do that now.

As for common & plentiful, you can't spit in a mall parking lot without hitting an Escort.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Modular engines? They come apart like any other engine, and like any other car. The heads are not spot welded to the block or anything.

Parts for my Honda Accord ex are far cheaper than parts for the Cougar and dealer service is far better than Ford.. I think Toyota would be as good as the Honda folks from their reputation, but you should check Consumers Report before buying anything.. buy a Ford ?? Sorry I've bought by last one..

I'm just trying to find out if the car is worth buying. Can someone run the VIN?

Don't have the $20.00 for the CarFacts???

One draw back to Car Facts is that they can only report things that have been reported TO them.. SO if mechanics and car repair shops don't report troubles, they don't get into the car's record. There have been a number of problem cars here in California that had shown a clear CarFacts report ..

Stay away from Corollas, my friend has one... much trouble, they are cheap, but unefficent. An Escort is similar to a Corolla, get an escort

Escort is a good car...but there is nothing wrong with a Corolla, they are really good cars. Toyota builds a quality product...don't matter what model it is.

Why did Lexus not copy the designs of the Sequia (sp) they did their own, and why did Toyota get a really bad rating on their new SUV. I believe they got it on the Tundra too. watch what you say. The Camry and Tacoma are their only reliable car/truck they make.

thats pretty scary you know. a 2002 Corolla time of the line model is pretty snazy I got to admit. the old ones I dont see why anyone bought them besides they were cheap.
