Would switching on the hi-pass crossover have anything to do with the efficiency rating? They test 'em at 1000Hz at 1M, right?

Maybe I should by them to check 'em out. Anybody want to buy my Pioneer plate components?

My HU has:

Sub-Out LPF (50/80/125Hz, -18dB/Oct.)
HPF Crossover
Sub-Out Level (-12dB to +12dB) and Phase Control
EEQ Performance Chip
3-Band Parametric Equalizer
Easy EQ (EEQ) switches 5 Factory, 2 User EQ Presets (Super Bass, Powerful, Natural, Vocal, Flat, Custom) Source Custom EQ Memory (Independent Custom Memory for each source)
Selectable Loudness Control (Low/Mid/High/Off)
SFEQ (Sound Focus EQ)
Additional Independent Bass / Treble Control for Front / Rear

So I assume I wouldn't need to implement a crossover for sub, as it is already in the HU. I've heard people say you don't need to replace the rear speakers as it doesn't do much for you. If this is true I could get the audiobahn 6x8's for the front, saving a $100. Where would this extra hundred bucks be spent for maximum reward to my ears?

Also, if I can power the audiobahn plates with only the HU, can't I get a smaller amp to push only my sub (that sub is 350 watt rms...), thus saving even more money so I can blow the saved money on some other mod for my svt...

If only there was a standard! There are so many variables and so many ways that effeciency rating are taken. Boston Acoustics has flat out refused to publish sensitivity ratings because there are so many methods being used, and so many installation variables that they said they could advertise their pro components as anything fom 83 dB effecient to 92dB.

That's close to what I'd do. Get the front speakers and get a 4ch amp. Run the amp's front channels to the front speakers and bridge the amp's rear channels to the sub.

Then, just run your rear stockers off the head unit. If you can, cut the highs and the low bass to them.

If you want to save a few dollars, than absolutely! The HU would probably do a find job powering the Audiobahns, use the stockers in the rear doors.

Thanks for all the great advice! Any recomendations on 4 channel amps for that sub and box? What kind of wiring do I need to run to the amp, I read that the stuff that comes with the amps usually is sub par. Also, how hard is it to install the sub/amp yourself. I would much rather put in the time/energy and learn how to do everything myself so I understand it to troubleshoot in the future.

All I really need is Something to handle voice well, the sub handles bass. I saw some Sony 5x7s and there not worth a 119.

Cthomp21, thanks for the great, informative email with great pictures. However, I would suggest the Cerwin Vega HED-1683. I got them for $80 from a website in California, $6 to ship, they drop right in and sound excellent. For Best Buy's price ($119), no. For $80, fine.
