Any legally binding contract has a 3-day revocation period, in which the contractee has every right to cancel said agreement, for causes deemed neccessary. This holds true, especially for autos.. Good luck on getting the 'tour back.. Note: Current Troll Application pending, process witheld due to "red-tape". lol :p

I believe you get 3 days from the signing of the contract to give the car back, no questions asked...

I did that when I had my 95 GT. I bought a 00' Trans Am. The next day I took it back. They werent to happy but they gave me my car back and my deposit. My cousin did the same but they kept her deposit. It really depends on the car lot. Leagly you have the days. Buyers protections program, something like that. They can do it so don't take no for an answer...

Kent you are right, there is a 3 day period where the dealership has to take the car back if you don't want it. Also if it's not final yet, then you are pretty much test driving the car for a couple of days and the dealership CANNOT sell your car. But bring it back to the dealership and tell them you want you car back. D_Freshzetec16_Racer, the salesman will be pissed because he just lost a sale, but who cares at this point you want your car back.

Too bad for the sales guy. Screw him, you can't afford this, it's your head in the noose.
Everyone is right, you have a three day cooling off period but more to the point is that you haven't paid for it yet.

"Isn't there some law called the "cooling off period" or something?"
No. just like there is no law about a "ten year stockpile of parts for discontinued cars."
The Chicago Tribune Auto Section gets this question every month and there is no such law for new car sales. Only for door to door salesmen selling vacuums.
Sorry, and if anyone can prove that it exists and has worked for you, say so.

If the sale was made at your home, or at a place other than the seller's regular place of business, you can cancel the contract within three days. This must be WRITTEN in the contract. If it isn't written in the contract, the three-day period doesn't start until you are given a notice in writing.
The contract must have a form you can use to cancel the contract. If you want to cancel the contract, return the form to the seller. The seller must give back your money or any trade-in. Sellers must pick up the goods within 20 days of the day they get your form. If they don't, they lose their right to the goods. What was proven by those 16 posts?
