Well, the conversion is complete. I got a VW, and now I have an iPod too. Here's to the VWs and Apples stereotype. But seriously, I got the 20GB with the media card reader and applecare and it is great. Hooked it up to a firewire port and it took like 3 minutes to copy over my 4GB music collection. Audio quality is simply amazing. Best $550 is ever spent.

Hope you got a spare battery. Oh, wait, you can't.

Yeah, I'm having issues wondering how I coped without an iPod before too. Not only for the music, but for the hard drive capabilities, it sure is a small wonder. Although I spent a little less ...

A friend of mine got something like an IPOD but for much cheaper than that off ebay. The guy even put all his music collection on there for him. Like every 311 song and a bunch of other stuff. It can also record from your TV and a bunch other stuff, atleast that's what he was telling me.

My replacement batteries are $9.99 at Wal-Mart, and they don't clip on the back of the unit to double its weight. However, I wish my 20GB mp3 player played AAC files. Then again, I paid less than half the price of an iPod.

but the ipods batteries are rechargeable...you dont replace them.
anyways that device i listed (which uses AA batteries) is just a backup used if you want to use the ipod past its rechargeable battery length. i think with that thing and the ipod battery combined, you get about 24 hours of playtime.
anyways, congrats on the ipod, hope you have fun! i plan on getting one in march....

You replace the rechargable battery on the Ipod when it dies. There's a video on the net that is pretty funny where a guy finds this out and goes around spray painting on Ipod advertisements that the battery dies and is none replaceable or something like that.... It is replaceable, just a PITA to do and a stupid design by Sony.

ahah yeah i saw that video, its pretty funny. however, thats generally not true. yeah its a pita to install yourself, but i think apple WILL do one for you for a hundred bucks. anyways there was a post on it a while ago, so im not gonna go into it. with proper care (ie fully discharging and charging the batteries) lithium ion batteries will last a long time...over a few years. however, if you treatany lithium ion batteries like [censored] (haha like how i treat my cell phone..i never discharge the battery, and now it gives me an error when i try to charge it sometimes) then they wont last as long. i agree with you though that they should have made the battery more accessible. maybe that will be one of the changes for MWSF 2004.
