I just need to get the special antenna (100 bones) and then subsribe (10 a month) the nice thing about it is that you can get 50 music and 50 talk stations cd quality and crystal clear. The only tim you will get bad reception isif you are in the chunnel or some really dense mountains or forests.
for thoses looking into this deck i highly recomend it not only for the satelight hook up but for it capabilities for playing CD, CDR, CDRW and MP3 encoded discs.
here's the link http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-AJuElyxIV57/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=3&g=62700&I =113Z828&o=M&a=0 Not so fast, You will also have to buy the tuner. That runs $300.00

The Radio install guy I talked to about it told me that I could mount the antenna in the rear deck. It will pick up just as well as if it's mounted to the outside of the car. Also he told me to get an Audi Amplified reciver and ditch (Shave) the AM/FM Antenna.

1st "virtually comercial free"= less than 5 min of commercials per hour. And there are some completely commercial free stations.
2nd Connections- The radio I connected it to is a pioneer deh-p7000r. All you really need out of your pioneer radio is a IP bus which is what they use for the changer control. I am assuming that other radios will use the same thing. You can also get an FM modulated unit the will work with any radio, but that will degrade your sound. Tuner for pioneer radios w/IP bus is $199. FM modulated tuner is $249. Antenna is $79
3rd censorship- most of the stations are censored just like normal, but there are 2 r&b/rap, 3 rock staions, and 2 comedy stations that are completely uncensored.
4th mounting- I mounted my antenna on the middle of my trunk lid. It looks pretty sleek. It is only a little pod that is about 3" by 4" and sticks up about 2-3 inches.
hope this cleared up some of the questions.

from what i've read...XM is already available and is about $10/month..they use 2 satellites. some Pioneer head units are XM satellite ready so you get the Digital sound and don't have to use a FM converter.
Sirius will be ready for the beginning of next year and its going to run 12-13/month but they use 3 satellites. some Kennwood head units are coming Sirius satellite ready
when you guys start using it..let me know how you like it.
I'm definately going to look into getting it cause the radio stations here in Pittsburgh suck...but only if i get a new head unit that is satellite ready, cause if you use an FM converter its defeating the purpose. ...and I'm going to wait until Sirius starts broadcasting, so i can get some opinions to compare the two, to see which one i want to subscribe to
crutchfield has CD head units that are satellite ready ranging from $200-$1000..plus you got to pay about $75 -$100 for the antenna.
here is a site the has some info on it
