I just looked back through this post and noticed that we've all assumed you have a V6 tour. If you do, the water pump is on the right side looking from the front into the engine compartment. It is covered by a small plastic cover that I believe bolts to the valve cover. The pump is driven by a small belt via the camshaft in the left cylinder head. The pump is easy to replace if you only replace the outter half with an aftermarket pump. The T-stat is located on the same side right above the tranny, follow the hoses and you will see it is pretty obvious.
