Must be a ford technician, mechanics I know fix their small things like this on their vehicles without having to ask about it. Yeah, you really should replace the engine, it probably isn't worth a crap anyways.

But on your car (if you go look under the hood), the water pump is on the right side (looking from front of car) it has a belt driven I believe by the cams. Tstat is in same general area. A Haynes manual is available on autozone or just about any parts store, just ask them for it. Or since you are a mechanic and all, you should be able to just get the parts and figure it out. From what I understand the h2o pump is easy to replace on duratecs and I know the tstat is easy. Even on a zetec, the h2o pump isn't that hard to do and could be done without the use of any manual, especially by a mechanic.
