Well I would check a few things before repalcing the pump because you arent sure that is the problem.

For example your fan clutch could have failed, this would cause overheating ONLY while driving in stop and go. Reason for that is on highway the air is going through the radiator fast enough to where it dosnt need the fan.


The thermostat couldbe stuck open, do you get any heat when you turn on the controls for it?
