Did you miss the part about a 1.8t with the stage 1 turbo kit on it?

I saw it, i still think a stock SVT would win, good ol' 2.5L V6 engine, with an SVT logo on it.

You're dreaming.
The 1.8T can have as much as 220hp out of the box, depending on which engine you choose. There are 150, 180, and 220hp 1.8Ts from various makes of VWs and TTs. With the simple addition of a new chip and minor bolt-ons, those numbers can jump to around 190, 240, etc...
That said, not only does he have one of these engines, he has upped it's horsepower by a fair bit with a stage1 turbo kit. So even if he were only producing the 200hp of the SVT Contour, his torque numbers are likely alot more than the 165ish the SVT puts out.
Now we've determined he more than likely outpowers an SVT right? Here's more food for thought; my 82 Jetta weighs well under 2400lbs, and a Rabbit will weigh less than my Jetta. We're talking CRX territory. He's more than likely making over 2hp for every pound he has to move
He should be able to trounce an SVT in a straight line, and if he sorted out his suspension, he will pass you on the outside around a corner, lifting his inside tire so his car can take a piss on yours. I'm not sure how much work the previous owner did to the car, but if he was as crazy as some MK1 owners I've known that car is probably pretty well set up. They'll dump 10K into thier $700 car just to confuse you
There was a video way back in the day (like 2 years ago) of a guy in a blue Rabbit with a 1.8T on a road course. Totally stomping everything, he was passing in the corners, braking about 3 feet before hitting corners, he was overtaking cars in the straightaways like they were sitting still... I always wanted to make the swap into the Jetta, but I'm not that crazy I guess

2 hp per lb ?
So, lets say the Rabbit is really light and weighs 1000 lbs.
so 1000 x 2 = 2000 HP. Wow. A chip and exhaust and you get 2000 HP
So maybe you meant 2lbs per HP. So, 1000lbs/2=500 HP.
Maybe your numbers are a teeny weeny optimistic.
10 lbs/hp = 2000 lbs/200 HP This might be closer to what you meant.
Contour SVT 3000 lbs/200 = 15lbs/HP
(Don't everyone correct me and tell me your SVT weighs 2910 Lbs. The numbers are for illustration).
