I have the stock ford alarm system on my 95 mystique and the alarm transmitter range has always been very poor. Even with new batteries I have to be within 5 feet of the car before I can unlock the doors. How can I increase the range, is there an antenna wire in the car somewhere?

Five feet? Ouch. The official Ford stance about the range is approximately 30 feet which of course still seems like nothing. Your transmitters may be dying if you can't do it past 5 feet though, even with new batteries they may be just worn out.

My remote even since new has been worthless past 15-20 feet. I have just changed my habits to accomodate it. (Less radiation for me anyway ) At only 5 feet I would have to agree that the battery is likely dying.

It was not broke; Yet I fixed it anyway.

This may sound stupid, but if you hold the transmitter under you chin right against your jawbone it will increase the range. I know, I know, it sounds like a joke but it's true and it does work just try it. I think your head acts like an antenna or something.

Say what you will (even if you are just playing) ut it REALLY WORKS... though you may be losing 15 to 20 cells each time... oh well.. I don't remember, now... LOL

If I wouldn't have seen it & tried it myself , I'd be calling B.S. on that too . It does work rather well . Stick it under your chin , point towards the car & BINGO ... way more range ! Try it before you disagree . I learned it at Spring Zing a few years back .

I've learned that trick many years ago and it works well.
