I'm about to change the stock intake manifolds on my 2.5 to the upper and lowers from a 2003 taurus. Along with this I am switching to the taurus cams, and fuel injectors. Any words of advice before I start in on this? I hear that the egr may not fit under the hood too well, but I'm sure that's easy enough to fix. What else should I be aware of before I take her off the road?

WTF? is all I have to say. Why would you do this? It's not going to work well at all if at all. You're IAC is going to rub on a pre98. Why spent $$$ to relocate mine. This has to be a joke. Why would you go with cams from a Taurus as well?! You can't tell me you'll gain anything over a stock 2.5 for all the work put in.

IIRC, the cams will have the same profile as your SE cams, but if you're going swap, use chains, ect from the '03 if you're switching over to them.

Todras just finished with his +01 conversion, so I'd troll over to his posts reguarding the UIM and LIM.

Hopefully someone else can be of more help......

how about you use the taurus block instead of the manifolds?

that will accually help your performance!

if you want the taurus manifolds and cams, pm me and ill sell them cheap

You will HATE the results...

The oval port manifold ports are abyssmally tiny compared to even a stock 2.5L split port manifold. (Power above 4k will suffer.)

The oval port cams DO NOT have different cam profiles to raise both low and high range power. (The entire powerband will suffer)

The oval ports cams have 12-18 degrees less duration then the stock 2.5L split port cams. (I.E. drops even yet more power)

{sidenote}
Funny thing about that is the oval port cams are "rated" at 232 duration or the same as the level 3 Cat Cams. Matter of fact the level 3 Cat Cams have the exact same valve timing points listed as the 3L oval port cams. hmmm... Be interesting to actually compare the two cams... Maybe finding my degree wheel is in order...

That's 3 strikes and I have just started. You need to forget this idea and actually do some homework and research on this subject A LOT.

Thanks for the input fellas'. You guys just provented what may have been a disaster. I'll skip on this mod. Looks like I'm in the market for SVT cams to replace mine now. Any one have 4 spares?

SVT cams have always been at a premium... Expect to spend several hundred dollars on a set of four. If you're going that far though, you may as well do a 3L swap since the engine has to come out to swap the cams pretty much...
