This is a photo of the thin vacum line that somehow got broke. It comes off the larger black boot that connects to a tube coming from a port in the UIM. Car very hard to start until I shoved a fat toothpick in there. You can see it at the arrow. I noticed that I have another of these lines broken also. I think its for the air flow control switch. Is it best to plug all 4 of the openings (2 on each tube) or do some need to be left open? Thanks, John

As far as I know, you should not have any open leak anywhere in the vacuum system. I would try to repair any cracks or breaks, rather than plugging them. Just my 2 cents.

I wonder if autoparts stores sell new vacuum line by the foot. It just slides into its rubber grommet.

You can get a small piece of rubber vacuum hose and use it to piece the hose back together. I know they make a rubber vacuum hose that size. Most auto parts stores sell rubber vacuum hose.

The red one goes to the fuel pressure regulator (if it's the same set up as mine).
If you got problems starting sounds like it's this one.

Any performance shop should sell colored vacum tubing in different sizes by the foot.

I repaired a section of cracked hose by slipping some aquarium air hose over the plastic line. Use blue silicone RTV inside the tubing to make sure you have an airtight seal.
