Is there a preference between shifter companies, or does everyone go with the B&M kit. Also, before purchasing a kit, I would like an idea of how difficult the install is. Does anyone have a "how to".

Thanks in advance,
Lee Alvarez

The B+M Ripper is a nice kit. The install takes about an hour and a half. Not really that hard. You need some Torx bits and a flat screwdriver and a Phillipshead.

Save yourself a bunch of money and check the group buy section. Next month we wil be having a steeda group buy. It is a personal preference to which one to get. Steeda or B&M.

It should be hard to install and the directions are pretty clear on how to do it.

i will tell you this i payed for a B&M lookalike shifter from custom cougars for $35, this was about 3 month's ago. 3 month's later with countless powershifts(not lifting during shifts) no problem what so ever. alot will tell you to stay away from it, but to each his own.

steeda here. i love the fact that it is NOT polished. throw on the cougar shift knob w/ aluminum top and you've got a killer setup

I suggested the B+M due to the ease of install. The Steeda is a true "Short Throw" shifter, but it takes some real fabbing to work on the Contour. If you have the know how, that is the way to go. I have a Steeda knob on my B+M.

True, but the steeda in the group buy comes with everything that you need. No fabbing needed. We do that for you. Plus it is alot cheaper. Only draw back ithat it won't hapen until January. Me and Ray are still working out a few samll details. We will have the knobs in this group buy also.

I bought an RVM shifter off of ebay for 70.00. Had it for a year now no problems. Looks very similar to the B&M at 1/2 the price.
