Sorry about this post I know it's been asked before ( i just lost the link and since the search is not working.. )

2000 SVT with 53k return-less fuel system.

It all stated after I ran out of gas... (fist time ever! in 16 years of driving)

At hight RPM's when the tank is below 1/2 full the engine starts to die. Fill up the tank and it runs fine. Already changed the fuel filter and it helped a little but I still have the problem.

The kicker is that it's been going on since the car had 15k miles. I would have figured the pump would have died by now if it was going bad or the mesh would be getting more clogged? I checked the mesh before and it looked ok!

I figure if I am going to open the tank, I may was well change the pump out. But since there are so many problems with the stock pump (or mesh clogging) then is there a viable after market alternative (just a drop in).

The plan...

  • check or change fuel filter for clog
  • ckeck mush for clog
  • if all else fails replace pump
  • what else am I missing?

Thanks
